Gor Mahia were officially handed a walkover after rivals AFC Leopards failed to honour their eagerly anticipated Top 8 clash that was set for Moi International Sports Centre on Sunday.
Leopards had earlier in the week said they would not play the match asking for a postponement but the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) governing council stood its grounds and directed the match to be played.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) had also written to KPL requesting them to postpone the game after Leopards’ officials petitioned the move.
"Gor Mahia have been awarded the game as per the laid down rules after Leopards failed to honour the game. We will await the disciplinary action the governing body will come up with," KPL managing director Jack Oguda told Supersport.com.
