Gor Ulinzi clash postponed
The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match between Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars, initially scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed.
This is in order to avoid going against the rule of the game that only allows a team to play a maximum of three matches in a fortnight.
Gor Mahia played Chemelil Sugars FC and Nairobi City Stars on 15 and 21 July, and are set to take on AFC Leopards in a pending KPL Top Eight match on Sunday 29 July.
The postponement was confirmed by KPL, adding that a new date will be announced soon.
“The Top Eight match has kept proceedings in the tournament on hold and, therefore, we could not afford to reschedule it. It was easier and only fair for us to find a new date for the Ulinzi match, something we intend to do amiably.”
The Top Eight match had initially been scheduled for play on Sunday 1 April, at the Nyayo Stadium.
It was, however, rescheduled after the Sports Stadia Management Board banned the team from using facilities under its umbrella.
The ban was partially lifted on Thursday 5 July, to allow the club to use the newly-refurbished Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.
