Tusker Head coach Sammy Omollo is confident that his team has improved and they are in the Kagame Cup competition to win it.
He also described his squad as one with great depth, “We lost Paul Were but signed a replacement, Joshua Oyoo who is doing a good job in terms of scoring and assists.”
“This is a better squad than the one that won the Kenyan Premier League and we are here to win it. That is what we want.”
Tusker were the last club to lift the cup in 2008 and are the last Kenyan club to lift the title and Omollo is fully aware of the task ahead.
“They won it in 2008 when they were here. We know there are good teams here like APR, Simba, Yanga and Azam but we will give our best to ensure we repeat the same feat.”
He concluded by explaining his liking for left footed players.
“I am in love with left footed players. Alot of people ask it but they bring something different into a match. It is always difficult for a defender to mark such players and it's working for us.”
With the club placed second in the league with 36 points, the former Tusker player highlighted that they are concentrating on Kagame Cup.
“We don’t want to focus on Kenyan Premier League and the Top 8 at the moment. We have a task at hand and we have to deliver,” he said.
Tusker play Mafunzo on Thursday in a match that will shape up their standings.
