Ochieng trains with Leopards

New AFC Leopards defender Pascal Ochieng has joined the club’s first team squad for training.

The Harambee Stars player was signed from Rangers FC a day to the end of the June transfer window on a six-month long deal. He was not able to take part in the club’s first team assignment at the weekend in Sony Sugar as he was in South Africa on trial with the University of Pretoria.

The towering defender has, however, arrived back in the country and attended training at the club’s Moi Forces Academy training ground.

“I am back in the country and have been in training. It has been a hectic few days for me, but I am now back and ready to focus. The day has been good. The guys have welcomed me and I feel at home. “I am happy to be here and hope to make an impression.”

Head coach Jan Koops is looking forward to his contribution as well. “Pascal Ochieng is here and has trained with us. After the weekend win, his return is a boost for us,” he said.

“I expect him to play a big part for us in the coming weeks, so to have him here is great.” Leopards next play City Stars FC in the Kenyan Premier League. They were humbled 3-0 in their first leg meeting and Koops wants his players to put things right. It will be tough for us,” he added.

“They beat us heavily last time and we are hoping to avoid a repeat of that. It is hopefully going to be better match for us this time. We need to be careful and to produce better play to get some points.”

Leopards are second in the KPL and can rise to the top of the standings with a victory as leaders Tusker FC are away for the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
