Odhiambo boost For Thika
Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Thika United is set for a massive boost in their upcoming fixtures as defender Dennis Odhiambo is set to resume action after more than a month out due to injury.
The defender sustained a tendon tear when on national duty in May as they were preparing for the 2014 World Cup qualifying clash with Malawi but the Thika United coach John Kamau expects to use him soon.
Kamau admits that the team has missed Odhiambo’s services and says the left-back, who has been in light training all along, is through the rehabilitation process and will resume full training next week – which could put him in contention for a place in the team’s next match.
“We have really missed his services and more so because he is a utility man and his versatility really favours us; he can fit in various positions and that’s why we can’t wait for his return,” said Kamau.
“At the moment his recovery after the injury is going on well, he has been training in isolation but he is almost returning; he has finished his rehabilitation and I can confirm that next week he will be in full-fledged training with the others and maybe in our next game he could play a part.”
Kamau may also be boosted in the next match by the availability of his two new signings Haji Mwachoki and Wycliffe Opondo who missed the win over Mathare United on Friday due to complications in their transfer process from Chemelil Sugar.
