Chemelil share spoils with Tusker
Chemelil Sugar drew 1-1 with defending champions Tusker in a match played on Saturday in Awasi.
Goals from new signing Jared Obwoge and Fred Onyango ensured the two sides picked up apoint each.
It was the sugarmen’s third straight draw while Tusker failed to win their first match in the last six. The result means that the brewers stay top with 36 points, two adrift of Sofapaka while Edward Manoah’s side remain seventh with 24.
The hosts took the lead in the 22nd minute after a defensive blunder let Obwoge in and he made no mistake. He was however booked after removing his shirt as part of his goal celebration.
Atudo’s promising run in the 44th minute was stopped by Tony Opondo as the sugarmen carried the lead into half time.
The brewers’ midfield stepped up their game in a bid to find the equalizer. They succeeded three minutes from time when Onyango levelled the scorers.
Tusker will leave for Dar es Salaam on Wednesday to represent Kenya in the Kagame Cup.
