Tusker ready for Kagame Cup
Kenya’s representatives at this year’s Cecafa Kagame Cup, Tusker will leave the country for Tanzania on Wednesday next week.
Tusker is pooled in Group B with Vodacom Premier League runners up Azam FC and Mafunzo from Zanzibar.
“We will leave for Tanzania next week on Wednesday as we intend to acclimatise before our first game,” Tusker head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo said.
He added that the team has prepared well for the tournament and hopes to do well. “Our preparations have been going on well and I believe we will perform. The management has supported us and we can’t afford to let them down.”
Tusker will take on Mafunzo on Thursday 19 July before ending their Group matches against Azam FC on Sunday (July 22).
Omollo also added that he is working hard to make sure his strikers bag more goals during the second leg of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL).
The former Mahakama tactician believes his defence and midfield is okay, but says that the strikers need to improve.
“I concentrated so much with the defenders during the first leg and I feel now there’s no problem at the back as they are coordinating well. I want to work more with strikers now and make sure they reach the standards that I want them to. The league is tight and we will have an advantage if we win matches with more goals.”
