Muhoroni Youth coach Alfred Imonje was a delighted man after the premiership debutants stunned Gor Mahia 1-0 in a league encounter on Wednesday.
He described the mid-week win as a huge motivation for his youthful side adding that they have proved their critics wrong regarding their promotion to the top flight league.
“It was a huge joy to win tonight’s game especially playing infront of a hostile crowd. We managed to contain them despite the massive pressure from Gor fans. I had told my players to defend well especially in the first 20 minutes,” said Imonje.
”Football is about scoring. If you can’t utilize chances, they will haunt you. We shall work extra hard since the league is competitive. Gor had many chances but even ourselves, we created three good chances.”
An elated Imonje said his main target this year is to finish among the top eight.
“The only way to remain in top eight is to get as many points as possible. My midfield was weak compared to Gor Mahia. I intend to work on it before we face Chemelil Sugar. My strikers are good and I believe as the league picks up, my boys will become stronger and gain more confidence since most of my players are very young and inexperienced.”
The win hauled the team from tenth to seventh with three points. They are tying on points along with Gor Mahia, Tusker, Kenya Commercial Bank(KCB) and Ulinzi Stars.
