Injuries cost us - coach

Gor Mahia coach Anaba Awono has attributed his team’s dismal performance in their recent matches to injuries and lack of efficiency infront of goal after a shock 1-0 loss to Muhoroni on Wednesday.
He said a long list of injuries among his key players had forced him to change his line-up and move players around to make up for the missing players.
“In our match against Ferroviaro in Mozambique, we conceded early goals and as a result, we struggled hard to recover. I have realized that defensive blunders have been the main undoing,” observed Awono.
The Cameroonian tactician said he was aware the loss did not augur well for his demanding fans but promised to bounce back in their subsequent matches.
”I know losing is part of the game. I will bear the responsibility in the meantime. We have been dogged by injuries while my make-shift strikers are not able to convert their chances.”
Awono however said he was encouraged by his team’s fighting spirit, “My boys were just unlucky. They created so many chances compared to our worthy opponents. It’s quite unfortunate we lost the match. I’m confident we shall start winning and pick all the points on offer.”
The loss to Muhoroni piled more misery on Gor Mahia who are currently in residential camp ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup first round, return leg clash against Ferroviaro of Mozambique in Nairobi.
Gor were handed a 3-0 defeat last weekend by their opponents.
