Ulinzi Stars name Chippo as TD

2010 Kenya Premier League(KPL) Champions Ulinzi Stars have named former Harambee Stars assistant coach Yusuf Chippo as the clubs technical Director.

Chippo is credited for steering the team to win a treble in the KPL from 2003-5 before he quit the club to join a top club in Rwanda.

Ulinzi Stars secretary Joe Birgen told Supersport.com that owing to his vast experience in football and having done a credible job for the club, the team management had decided to reward him by appointing him as the new technical director on a part time basis.

“We have named Yusuf Chippo as our new Technical Director. He begins his new assignment on Wednesday on a part time basis until the time we shall confirm him officially. He has good credentials which we believe shall steer our team to reclaim the League title that slipped from our hands last season to Tusker.” Observed Birgen.

Chippo who begins his new assignment on Wednesday February 8th will work in partnership with the technical bench under head coach Benjamin Nyangweso.

Chippo sat on the sidelines on Sunday when Ulinzi Stars demolished Finlays FC (formerly Homegrown) 5-0 in Naivasha in a friendly match.

Scorers for the Nakuru military side were Wycliffe Ochomo,Stephen Waruru,Evans Amuoka and former Western Stima midfielder Kevin Amwayi who netted a brace.

Birgen disclosed that Nyangweso will still remain the head coach while former International Francis Onyiso will be the Goalkeeper trainer.

Chippo was appointed by Harambee Stars head coach Francis Kimanzi to assist him along with Francis Barasa two months ago to shape up the team ahead of the World cup pre- qualification for group stages against Seychelles and the regional Tusker Cecafa Challenge cup held in Tanzania late last year.
