Tusker win Super Cup in PK shootout



Tusker were crowned the new SuperSport/Dstv super cup champions after they beat Gor Mahia 4-1 on post match penalties after the match ended 1-1 in normal time.

Tusker's keeper Samuel Odhiambo was the hero for his side as he blocked two penalties to be crowned the man of the match as Tusker clinched their first silverware of the season.

Tusker's penalties were scored by Jockins Atudo,Isaac Otieno,Brian Mandela and Joseph Mbugi while Gor Mahia players Moses Odhiambo and Donald Mosoti had the penalties blocked as Rama Salim scored the consolation penalty for Kogalo,

The match had earlier started on a high note for Gor Mahia as new signing Victor Ali Abondo broke the deadlock in the 11th minute after his sublime freekick beat Gor Mahia's keeper Samuel Odhiambo in Tusker's goal.

Tusker fought back relentlessly and in the 27th minute their effort was rewarded when defender Brian Mandela capitalised from a defensive lapse to poke in the equaliser past a hapless Ivo Mapunda in Gor Mahia's goal as the scores stood at 1-1.

Tusker were rewarded with a glittering trophy in addition to a ksh 750,000 cheque presented by the FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya while Gor Mahia walked home with Ksh 500,000.

SuperSport head of Africa Gary Rathbone,Dstv director of East and Central Africa Stephen Isaboke ,Nairobi mayor George Aladwa were all present during the presentation of trophies and cash prizes.
