Tusker get early clash with Gor Mahia

The highly anticipated SuperSport/DStv cup is in the offing with three days to go before D-Day, where league champions Tusker will face FKL winners Gor Mahia in a thrilling encounter to be played at Nyayo Stadium.

The great initiative by the head of SuperSport Africa, Gary Rathbone, and the KPL is going to its third year since its inception in 2010 and for the first time we might witness a new winner after Sofapaka won the title back to back in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

The SuperSport/DStv cup has been acting like the league curtain raiser for the Kenyan Premeir League season with a colossal sum of Ksh 750000 winners prize money on the table for the winners in addition to a glittering trophy.

The title will be fought between 2011 Kpl champions Tusker who face Gor Mahia who were the 2011 Fkl champions in what could be a breathtaking clash in a ding dong battle to be played on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium and to be screened live on SuperSport 9 across Africa .

Tusker come prepared as champions and will be using the match to prepare for both the KPL season opener and the continental Caf matches being played in the month of February.

With new signings such as Peter Opiyo,Fredrick Onyango,Patrick Kagogo,Kenneth Wendo,George Opiyo and Obadiah Ndege, Tusker's coach Sammy Pamzo Omollo is spoiled for choice as he will expect the new players to blend well with the regulars.

On the other hand Gor Mahia took the opportunity in the off season to also strengthen their squad with new acquisitions; the likes of Victor Ali Abondo who will be facing his former team mates from Tusker, influential midfilder Rama Salim, keepers Ivo Mapunda and Wycliffe Kasaya, young defender Yusuf Juma,David Owino and the returning striker Baldwin Ngwa who has been impressive.

The match pitting the two giants will attract many fans, especially since it is being broadcast live on SuperSport. This makes it even more interesting as other fans across Africa will be waiting for the mouthwatering clash that is expected to provide a new champion.
