Leopards maul Homeboys to win Ashitiva Memorial Cup

AFC Leopards put up a gallant show to win the annual Ashitiva Memorial Cup 4-2 against Homeboys FC on post match-penalties after a goalless draw during the normal time. The match was staged at the Kakamega High school.

Leopards’ goals were converted by Eric Masika, Jonas Nahimana, Amon Muchiri and Jimmy Bageya. AFC romped into the finals after silencing Mautuma FC 2-0 in the semis and walloping Makhokho FC by the same margin in the quarters.

Leopards win however came with a heavy prize after their attacking midfielder Augustine Etemesi was send off in the second half for accumulating two yellow cards.

The two day tournament was a perfect opportunity for Dutch born coach Jan Koops to test various combinations with the entire 28-member squad.

Leopard’s new signings did not disappoint as they all proved to be worthy signings. The team won the glittering Ashitiva Cup and a small token of Kshs.15, 000.

Meanwhile, Charles Bukeko popularly known as Papa Shirandula will coordinate a media sub-committee appointed by the Bus Project Steering Committee. He will work with six other respected media personalities to publicize the project with the view to increasing awareness to Leopards supporters.

As a member of the Bus Project Committee, Bukeko will link the public with crucial communications sanctioned by the committee through the six personalities selected from the mainstream media and friendly/strategic media organizations.

“We will use all available contacts to drum up support for this worthy course,” said Bukeko. He urged AFC loyalists to stop negativity and only spread positive vibes to the public.
