KPL Week 21 Preview

Table toppers Tusker will be looking to strengthen their hold of the position with a win against Bandari while Gor Mahia face off with champions Ulinzi Stars in the match of the round in week 21 of the competition.

Saturday 20th August

Ulinzi Stars Vs Gor Mahia (Nakuru)

A win for Ulinzi stars will push them closer to Tusker as the defending champions fight it out with last year’s runners up in a clash of the titans.

Both sides survived scares last weekend scoring last gasp equalisers to snatch a point each and keep their title ambitions firmly on track.

Gor have influential midfielder Collins Okoth back in action and he will play a big role in Nakuru.

Ulinzi Stars have to make do without several players who are away in Burundi for regional military games but it will take nothing away from the highlight clash of the weekend.

Our Prediction: 1-1

Western Stima vs Sony Sugar (Bukhungu) Both sides notched important wins over the weekend to reduce the pressure after a string of poor results.

Sony will be again call on their hit man Isaiah ‘Song’ Omondi and Hugo Nzoka for goals while Stima coach Henry Omino hopes striker Wesley Kemboi can step up to the plate after a long barren spell.

Our Prediction: 1-2

Tusker Vs Bandari (Nyayo Stadium; live on SuperSport 9)

League leaders Tusker will look to get back to winning ways after being held by Mathare last Tuesday.

Coach Sammy Omollo is spoilt for choice with George Midenyo expected to provide the goals with Hillary Echesa and Chrispine Olando doing duty in midfield.

Bandari who won the coastal derby last weekend will look to inspirational striker Abdulwahab Musa to continue with his rich goal scoring form if they are to get anything from the match.

Our Prediction: 2-1

Karuturi Vs Thika United (Karuturi)

A resurgent Karuturi Sports find themselves seventh on the log with 30 points after holding Gor Mahia to a one all draw last weekend.

Coach James Nandwa is determined to keep up the good run with the likes of Jacob Omondi and John Mwangi playing key roles.

The flowermen are up against a Thika United side that played so well against Ulinzi Stars and who after a tough start under new coach John Kamau, have settled in recent weeks.

Striker Moses Arita has stagnated at nine goals and Thika will hope he can rediscover his scoring touch in Naivasha.

Our Prediction: 1-1

Sunday 21st August

Rangers Vs Mathare United (Nyayo Stadium)

Rangers will look to put the bitter 2-0 loss away to Sony last weekend behind them as they face Mathare United in Nairobi.

A win would do rangers a world of good as their challenge for the title has lost steam in recent weeks with just one win in their last five matches.

They face a Mathare side that held leaders Tusker to a one all draw last Tuesday and who have a great record against them.

It will also be a clash of two MYSA coaches as Salim Ali and David Ouma are both graduates of the youth system.

Our Prediction: 1-2

Congo United Vs Sofapaka (Mombasa)

Despite a new coach in Juma Abdalla, basement side Congo have the going tough and are staring relegation in the face.

They face a wounded Sofapaka side looking for tonic after a 3-1 tonking by AFC Leopards and will be wary of a backlash.

Sofapaka coach Francis Kimanzi hopes to have John Baraza and Edgar Ochieng back after they missed the last game with illness.

Our Prediction: 1-2

Chemelil Sugar Vs KCB (Chemelil)

Chemelil Sugar have quietly crept up the table to fifth place under the watchful guidance of coach Edward Manoah.

The sugarmen will be hoping that the new kid on the block Victor Ochieng who has scored five goals in the second leg and Daniel Mutahi can continue with their blistering form.

They face a KCB side that has gone off the boil losing to Western Stima in their last match at home.

Our Prediction:2-1

AFC Leopards Vs City Stars (Nyayo Stadium)

Leopards are still on cloud nine after their deserved 3-1 thrashing of Sofapaka and coach Jan Koops will be hoping to continue from where they left when they face Nairobi City Stars.

Their opponents have a new caretaker coach in charge after ken Odhiambo was given a month off to recharge his batteries.

Gideon Ochieng is in charge for the next four weeks and he will look to make a positive debut.

Mike Baraza has bene in great formand will be the man that Leopards call upon while Oscar Kadenge is back in the groove since joining Leopards from Tusker.

Should he play, Jimmy Bagaye will be facing his former side for the first time since joining Leopards.

Our Prediction:2-1
