Bumper Easter weekend in KPL week 8

There will be six matches on the cards in the Easter weekend and one more on Tuesday.

The top of the table clash between Tusker and Western Stima will undoubtedly provide the highlight of the weekend with Stima looking to go top of the log with a win over the league leaders. Elsewhere Rangers and KCB could sneak into the top two should they win and Stima falters.

Saturday 23rd April 2011

KCB Vs Sony Sugar(City Stadium)

KCB will be looking to continue their good run of form and possibly move second position when they meet a Sony Side languishing in unfamiliar territory after a terrible run of losses. KCB are enjoying a wonderful start under coach Leonard Saleh but they be wary of a backlash from Sony especially after a turbulent week that saw two players suspended.

KCB duo of Hussein Puzzo and Luke Ochieng will look to prove to their former side that they were wrong in letting them leave the sugarmen in the off season.

Our Prediction:2-1

Bandari Vs Ulinzi Stars(Mombasa Live on SuperSport 9)

Coach Oliver Bango of Bandari is under immense pressure as he takes on an Ulinzi side that has regained back its footing after a bad start to the season. The midweek draw against Gor Mahia in the KPL Top 8 tourney will buoy an Ulinzi side that is experiencing injury problems to its key players. They will also draw from confidence from the 2-1 win over Congo at the same ground a month ago.

Our Prediction:3-1

Karuturi Sports Vs Rangers(Karuturi)

Karuturi’s coach James Nandwa has acknowledged that his team is in crisis after successive losses in the league which has pushed them to the bottom four. They face a Rangers side that has been in sparkling form with 14 points and who are revelling in their underdog tag beating the so called big teams easily. Karuturi need a bi result to ease the pressure on Nandwa and his group of underachieving players.

Our Prediction:1-2

STAR MATCH:Western Stima Vs Tusker(Bukhungu)

The top of the table encounter is expected to provide both entertainment and a possible shift in places with Western Stima who are placed second behind Tusker with two points less hoping to go on top of the table with a major upset against a team that has been extremely consistent for the last seven weeks.

Stima's only injury worry is Kevin Serenge while Tusker will be without their hitman George Midenyo with Joseph Emeka set to start in his place.

it will be a close game that will possibly be decided by the odd goal.

Our Prediction:2-1

Sunday 24th April 2011

Congo United Vs AFC Leopards(Mombasa Live on SuperSport 9)

Congo United this week the first side to sack their coach due to poor performance showing Gideon Ochieng the door after getting two points out of a possible 21. New coach Gilbert Selebwa will make his debut against his former team AFC Leopards who are in sixth position having recovered their footing to win their last match against City Stars.

Coach Robert Matano will be happy that his stocky striker Hugo Nzoka scored twice and he will be going all out for a win to silence his detractors.

Our Prediction:0-2

Thika United Vs Chemelil (Thika )

Playing at home, Thika will want to quickly forget the 3-1 loss to Gor Mahia that came just days after they had beaten Bandari 3-0. They face a Chemelil side that got a vital win at Karuturi and who will pose a tough task that will require the milk boys to show immense determination and will power.

Our Prediction:2-1

Tuesday 26th April 2011

Gor Mahia Vs Mathare United(Nyayo Stadium)

After managing a draw against Ulinzi in the KPL Top 8 in midweek, Gor Mahia face Mathare United just weeks after they eliminated the slum boys from the knockout tourney.

It should be an exciting match with Mathare looking to absorb the pressure not only from Gor Mahia players but from their passionate fans who always play a pivotal role. Kogalo go into the match with an upper hand with thirteen points and will seek to keep the momentum against Mathare who have seven points and have been blowing hot and cold.

Our Prediction:2-1
