Balotelli denies acting as a 'pusher'

AC Milan star striker Mario Balotelli on Thursday rubbished allegations made by a Mafia turncoat that he had sold drugs as a joke during a visit to Naples.

Italian media quoted him as saying on Twitter that the accusations were being made purely to attract attention.

According to reports, Armando De Rosa, a former member of the Naples-based Mafia known as the Camorra, told prosecutors that the footballer had visited the infamous neighbourhood of Scampia in June 2010.

While there, he saw drugs being sold and asked one of the dealers if he could take part as a joke. He then allegedly handed over a dose to a drug addict, who did not recognise him.

De Rosa was being questioned by prosecutors in connection with a money laundering investigation.
