Milan sign Cristian Zaccardo

Resurgent AC Milan signed defender Cristian Zaccardo from Parma on Thursday in exchange for Djamel Mesbah, the Serie A giants announced.

Zaccardo, speaking exclusively to Milan Channel, said: "I am proud to have joined Milan. I can play in the centre of defence or at full-back and I will give my best."

Reports emerging late on Thursday suggested that Milan midfielder Rodney Strasser had been included in the exchange deal and would soon be on his way to Parma, although neither club had confirmed.

The 31-year-old Zaccardo's arrival has increased speculation the Rossoneri may also be about to accept an offer which has been tabled by Zenit St Petersburg for Ignazio Abate.
