Allegri-Inzaghi clash at embattled Milan
Tensions mounted further at embattled Serie A giants AC Milan on Thursday following a reported altercation which turned nasty between head coach Massimiliano Allegri and former striker Filippo Inzaghi.
Allegri has been given the backing of Milan CEO Adriano Galliani despite the Rossoneri failing to win three times at the San Siro this month, including Tuesday's Champions League opener against Anderlecht.
Inzaghi now coaches Milan's youth team after being refused an extra year's contract at the end of the season.
Reports by Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport claim the former striker angered Allegri on Thursday during a visit to the club after he ignored the head coach's greeting.
Words were reportedly exchanged and Inzaghi is understood to have told Allegri he is not taking the job "seriously enough".
According to witnesses the tone turned vulgar, prompting alarm among the parents of several youth players who were witness to the scene.
AC Milan, whose only win this season was a 3-1 away win at Bologna, travel to Udinese on Sunday.
In the event of defeat, Allegri's future at the club – a little over a year after steering them to a league and Super Cup double – would likely become untenable.
Italian media reports have already spoken of possible successors, with Inzaghi – who has yet to digest being pushed out the club – in a possible coaching tandem with former assistant coach Mauro Tassotti.
Spain striker Bojan Krkic, however, also dropped a bombshell when he arrived three weeks ago.
He said his former coach at Barcelona, Pep Guardiola, had expressed interest in a job at Milan: "Someone from Barca said he wanted to come here, but I can't say who."
