Amrouche to be unveiled as Kenya coach

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is expected to announce the 27th Harambee Stars coach in Kenyan football history on Wednesday.

According to the federation, the shortlisted candidates include: Adel Amrouche, Raymond Domenech, Milutin Srejovedic and Bobby Williamson.

However, as earlier reported by supersport.com, the man that will be tasked to turn the fortunes of Kenya will be former Burundi coach Adel Amrouche.

FKF president Sam Nyamweya highlighted that they will be going for a low profile coach unlike the predecessor Henri Michel.

"We will unveil a new coach but he is low profile and will be incharge of the team before they play Nigeria.

"Kenya has been without a head coach since Michel quit in December and assistant Coach James Nandwa who'll retain his post took over as stand-in coach.

When asked for his comment on the development, Former Harambee Stars coach Jacob Mulee who took Kenya to their last Afcon assignment in 2004 said: "Amrouche is a good coach having been incharge in various clubs in the continent and I believe he has the expertise. He was at DC Motema Pembe a club that has a fan base like Gor Mahia or AFC Leopards and if he could work under that pressure he can do this job. I watched him at Cecafa 2011 with Burundi and he did a good job with his side."

"I'd like him to take Kenya to a different level and be tough on his job and what he wants."

"He should also look into it that players get a better treatment, we saw what Arnold Origi said the other day, that shouldn't happen."

"We have a mixture of foreign-based and local-based players and that shows we have the pedigree as a team and he should use that to benefit Harambe Stars."

Kenya is set to face African champions Nigeria in Calabar next month in a 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
