Kotoko on top by goal difference

Kotoko climbed back to the summit of the Glo Premier League after recording a difficult 2-1 away win at Kpando Heart of Lions on match day 28.

The Porcupine Warriors took the lead through Kofi Nti Boakye in the 24th minute but the hosts responded through Kweku Andoh seven minutes later.

The tie was decided late on as Seidu Bancey pounced to steer home a rebound.

The result puts Kotoko on top of the league table on 50 points level with Berekum Chelsea who slipped up after drawing 1-1 in the derby against Arsenals.

The Blues were on their way to all three points after Abdul Rashid had opened the scoring in the 50th minute only for Arsenals to draw level in the 56th minute when James Boadu converted a penalty.

The top liner was at the Accra Sports Stadium where Hearts of Oak took Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs.

In-form striker Mahatma Otoo handed his side victory when he slotted a shot past Foli Adade after playing a lovely give-and-go with Moro Abubakar close to the penalty area.

The win gives Hearts of Oak 43 points and keeps their top four alive.

Relegation battlers Tema Youth eased their fears with a 3-2 home win over New Edubiase. The Harbour Boys were in no mood to dock their Premier League stay and they were aided by a hat-trick from Bright Adjei who scored in the 11th, 57th and 66th minutes.

However, the points could have been lost because of two Edubiase goals from star-midfielder Asiedu Attobrah and striker Stephen Manu in the 67th and 78th minutes respectively.

Tema Youth and Kpando Heart of Lions are now tied on 30 points with the Kpando side is better placed on 13th position because of a better goal difference.

But the tie between Medeama Sporting Club and Wa All Stars was rained off and will be played on Thursday 30th May 2013.
