Medeama bring back Aristica Cioaba

Cioaba Aristica makes a return to the Ghana Premier League, following completion of terms with league leaders Medeama. The former Aduana Stars boss will take a $20,000 sign on fee.

Currently in the Arab Gulf, the Romanian is the coach of Saham Sports Club, who he joined in January last year. He will now join the Tarkwa-based club on a two and a half year deal on a $3,000 monthly salary.

Medeama have sacked Tanko Shaibu in the last seven days, a decision which surprised him as much as it did pundits. But the club President of Medeama, Moses Armah and his vice Aryeetey Commey, have been working behind the scenes for this new deal to reach fruition.

At the time of leaving Aduana, the Romanian was almost 6000 euros a month.

Tanko confusion

Albert Commey has confirmed that Tanko's dismissal was due to his coaching duties with the University College Education.

"We are talking about a Premiership team that is at the top of the league and is vying for honours in the league and the other competitions like the MTN FA Cup. We know that the UCEW also has quite a busy schedule."

"He was not available for our preparations for our game at Wa All Stars because he was up north with the university team. Things cannot work like this and that is why we have taken this step."

A former Hearts of Oak assistant coach, Shaibu has always maintained that Medeama have been dishonest about the reasons for his firing.

"Albert Commey and I were both at Accra Hearts of Oak and he was aware that I doubled as the coach of the UCEW back then. It is very surprising to hear him say that he did not know that I was part of the University staff. How can they turn round and claim they do not know if my dealings with the university?"
