Northerners so close yet so far
Real Tamale United simply cannot get three points to save their lives, as a late Liberty goal spoiled a chance to get a first win in fourteen games.
The two sides drew 1-1 in Kumasi, which is RTU's temporary home, on Saturday. Ernest Baffoe cancelled out RTU's second half opener at the Baba Yara stadium.
The first half ended goalless but midway through the second half Mohammed Aminu put the northern giants ahead on 76 minutes. But Baffoe had other plans, as he equalised for Liberty only six minutes later.
RTU are still bottom of the table, having taken just five points from the season, winning none, drawing five and losing nine. For Liberty, a point was enough for a brief rise temporarily to seventh with nineteen points.
Still up north
Fellow northern side, Wa All Stars, could not win their home game against AshGold as well. The Miners got the win in Wa also on Saturday, taking them to third.
The winner came surprisingly early, from Yakubu Mohammed. The serial scorer for the Miners did it again after just ten minutes, following a tap in from a free kick.
There could, and should, have been more goals, but bad striking and finishing ensured it finished that way, when two Wa All Stars players had only Fatau Dauda to beat. They contrived to miss the goal, instead.
