Laryea wants revenge

Laryea Kingston feels like a new signing for Hearts, and together with the newly signed David Duncan in the dugout, the two are ready fro the Porcupine Warriors on Sunday.

The last time Hearts went to Kumasi, the veteran midfielder took an early bath after a horrendous lunge on Baba Abdul Rahman. After that game in April, Kotoko's officials had bragged that the sending off had been planned.

"There are things we asked Rahman to do which drew the red card," Ben Nti, the club's Administrative Manager said after the 2-1 win. "We call it Laryea’s Hearts of Oath not of Oak. It is all psychological which was planned and it worked to perfection."

Nti had gone on: "We sat here and told supporters Laryea will get a red card, this is not juju, it is merely psychological."

Fast forward seven months, and this time, the ex-Black Star says he will be more careful.

"Maybe I was a fool not to have listened to the numerous advices before that match about a ploy to get me out of the game at the least provocation," he admits in an interview with Hearts official website.

"I’m wiser now, in fact we all are and I believe that this time we are going to match them boot for boot in all departments."

That kind of talk will see Kotoko snigger, especially as the reds firmly believe they are better than the Phobians in every department of the field at the moment. Laryea bucks the prevailing notion, however, that the reds' recent good run does not mean anything at all, especially when it comes to the Super Clash.

"It about the three points, I always say. It’s about pride because if we win the morale in camp will be massive," Kingston said, before issuing a rallying cry to the fans.

"I will use this platform to urge all Phobians to join us on Sunday at the Baba Yara stadium as we silence these noisy Kotoko faithful once and for all. The team is very fired up for the match and I personally can’t see anything beyond victory".

With the season winding down last season, Kotoko all but stamped their title annexation on the league after finishing Hearts with a last gasp goal from Michael Akuffo. Sunday will be all about payback time for the dreadlocked midfielder.

"I want to assure the fans that we are going to revenge last season’s painful defeat and continue with the smooth harmony that is growing in camp at the moment."

Hearts fans with note with no small amount or irony, that Laryea said almost the same thing in the buildup to the last Super Clash in Kumasi.
