FA Cup heats up as Kotoko win



Asante Kotoko, who lost in the final of the last edition of the MTN FA Cup beat Swallah United 4-0 in one of the Round of 64 games on Sunday. Michael Akuffu, Daniel Nii Adjei, Michael Mensah and Abdul Baba Rahman made sure the reds advanced.

Elsewhere, Kintampo Sharp Arrows will play Accra Hearts of Oak in the second round after beating Tano Bofokwa in a replay of their preliminary round fixture. Sharp Arrows won 1-0 at the Kintampo Town Park today to book a date with the Phobians at the same grounds next Sunday.

Berekum Chelsea needed penalties at the Golden City Park against Mighty Jets. They drew 1-1 in normal time. Tema Youth managed to romp in seven goals past third tier side, Portsmouth in the Round of 64 stage of the FA Cup on Saturday, in the biggest goal margin to have been recorded from the last edition of the competition till date.

Dwarfs romped Believers FC 5-1 while Kotoku Royals were beaten 1-0 by BA Stars and Aduana Stars eased past King Solomon 1-0.

Earlier, Sporting Mirren had become the first side to reach the round of 32 stage after beating Agbozome 2-1. Great Olympics failed to move on as they lost 1-0 to Golden Eyes.
