Wassaman axes Addo
Herbert Addo has been axed from his post as head coach of Ghana Premier League side Wassaman United. Reports have it that he was shown the door after the team's 2-2 draw with Bechem at home on Sunday evening.
He took over the team at the start of the season amid a plethora of problems. Addo had cited a lack of proper pre-season training as a reason for their poor start, buttressing his points with claims that he had not been involved in the process of selecting players for the league campaign.
The club's chief executive, Kingsley Baidoo, confirmed to a local radio station in Accra that the decision had been taken because Addo had lost the dressing room. "We believe he has lost control," Baidoo told Happy FM.
Wassaman are likely candidates for relegation. With 15 games gone, they have just 9 points and are bottom of the pile. Although they have not conceded the most goals (23), their scoring has not been effective.
“We took the decision after a painstaking time and we believe there are questions about his tactical disposition.
Herbert Addo is seen as one of Ghana's best tactical men, having won the league with giants Hearts and Kotoko, as well as creating history with Aduana Stars in 2009 to be the only side to annex the title straight from promotion from Division One. Herbert’s dismal away record in the league continues, having won the league with Aduana with only three victories on the road in 2009.
