Lyon not championship material - captain
Lyon captain Maxime Gonalons on Friday admitted that his team hold next to no hope of pipping Paris Saint-Germain to the title despite just three points separating the clubs at the top of Ligue 1.
OL have pushed the big-spending capital outfit all the way this season but have started to slip in recent weeks, with last Sunday's 3-1 defeat in Ajaccio allowing PSG to move clear at the top.
Carlo Ancelotti's PSG had won 10 and drawn one of their last 11 games in all competitions heading into their home clash with Bastia on Friday night and French international midfielder Gonalons knows keeping up with such form is a big ask.
"Winning the title has never been our obsession and was not something we discussed at the beginning of the season," he told a press conference.
"We didn't expect to be where we are now even if we were aware of our qualities.
"Today, we know we are good enough to finish in the top three. PSG have not lost since the beginning of the year, are conceding few goals and are scoring lots.
"They are becoming a well-oiled machine after investing heavily in great players."
Gonalons was speaking as Lyon prepare to entertain 2011 champions Lille at the Stade de Gerland on Sunday.
