Lyon loans Monzon to Fluminense

Lyon has loaned centre half Fabian Monzon to Brazilian club Fluminense until the end of July.

Lyon signed the Argentine defender from Nice in the offseason until 2016 but the 25-year-old Monzon has failed to settle into the team, starting only two league games.

Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas says Fluminense has an option to make the move permanent at the end of loan spell.

Lyon sold Brazilian striker Fred to Fluminense four years ago.

Aulas also says Lyon plans to offer highly-rated midfielder Clement Grenier a new long-term contract. The 22-year-old Grenier's current contract expires in July 2014.
