Maradona stunned by partner's pregnancy

Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona learned with surprise that he would become a father again aged almost 52 years, his family doctor Alfredo Cahe revealed on Saturday.

Maradona's 34-year-old partner Veronica Ojeda is five months pregnant with the footballer's fourth child.

"She took it lightly and Diego with surprise (because) it was not planned by the couple," Cahe told reporters at a Buenos Aires hospital where the father of the former football star is being treated for a urinary tract infection.

Cahe added that the pregancy was going well.

Maradona, who turns 52 on October 30, has two daughters - Dalma, 25, and Giannina, 23 - from his marriage to Claudia Villafane, and a 26-year-old son, Diego Jnr, born following an affair with Italian Claudia Sinagra when he was playing for Napoli.

The star, who guided Argentina to the 1986 World Cup title and then to the 1990 final, is already a grandfather as Giannina is married to Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, and they have a three-year-old son Benjamin.
