Chivas fire advisor Cruyff
Mexican club Chivas have ended their association with Johan Cruyff, they said in a statement, citing a disappointing run of form, including the failure to qualify for the Concacaf Champions League this season.
The former Barcelona manager had been acting as a consultant to the Guadalajara club since February on a two-year contract and will leave at the end of December, according to a Chivas statement released on Sunday.
Chivas officials said he had "not achieved the objective set" for Mexico's most successful and popular side, which has won the first division a record 11 times but has had a lean spell over the last decade, winning just one title.
The club said Cruyff's management team, including coach John van't Schip, would remain.
