Bedoya replaces Feilhaber in US squad

Alejandro Bedoya, a 24-year-old midfielder who plays for Swedish league side Orebro, was added to the United States lineup for the Concacaf Gold Cup on Monday in place of Benny Feilhaber.

The move came on the eve of the Americans' opening match in the biennial 12-team North American regional championship, against Canada at Detroit, Michigan.

Bedoya, whose father and grandfather played professionally in their native Colombia, earned his eight caps last year. He has been training with the US squad for the past week and played in Saturday's 4-0 friendly loss to Spain.

Feilhaber, also a midfielder, suffered a right ankle injury on May 28 while playing for the New England Revolution in a 1-0 Major League Soccer loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy.
