Zilina fire Dutch coach
Slovakia's defending champions MSK Zilina have fired Dutch coach Frans Adelaar after a string of poor showings, the club said on its website on Friday.
The 52-year-old Adelaar took charge of the team in April 2012 and led it to Slovak league and cup victories last season.
But in autumn MSK slipped to fifth place in Slovakia's 12-team top flight, trailing leaders Slovan Bratislava by eight points.
Before joining MSK, Adelaar led clubs in his homeland, including FC Utrecht, De Graafschap, ADO Den Haag and Sparta Rotterdam.
MSK, Slovakia's six-time champions, said that assistant coach Stefan Tarkovic would lead the team until July when he is due to be replaced by Adrian Gula from Slovak top-flight side AS Trencin.
