The head coach of Egyptian team U-20 Rabie Yassen has revealed that he asked the Egyptian Football Association to have two friendly matches against DR Congo next March before the African Youth Championship in Algeria.
Egypt will play in Group A with Algeria , Ghana and Benin from March 16 till 30.
” I played very good two matches with Nigeria. We lost the first match and drew the second and that was very good. ”. Yassen said to supersport.com.
” I am in a very bad situation and the EFA wont support me. I asked to play 10 friendly matches and we played only three. I hope they do their best and allow us to play against DR Congo” he added.
“ Clubs like Al Ahly and Zamalek don’t want to release their players and that make it even harder for me. When you can look at other teams in the same group especially Ghana you see they held their camp in Europe and have played very good matches”.
” In addition to this many stadiums in Cairo don’t want to host our training because we don’t pay. So I talked with the Egyptian Sports Minister Al Amri Farouk and he helped us”. Rabie added sadly .
Egyptian won the tournament three times in 1981 , 1991 and 2003.
