Musonye trusts Darfur to deliver
Cecafa general secretary Nicholas Musonye is optimistic the North Darfur State will host this year's regional club championship slated for mid June successfully.
Musonye is leading a team of Cecafa officials currently in Sudan to assess the Western state’s preparedness.
"About 90 per cent of the requirements are available and the local organising committee here has to do something extra to score the full mark before clubs start coming in," said Musonye, adding, “I’m confident all will be well.”
Musonye made the remarks on Sunday evening after completing the inspection of the facilities intended for use at the tournament.
The Cecafa officials arrived in Khartoum on Thursday to assess the readiness of the country in hosting this annual tournament.
Earlier on Sunday, Cecafa media officer Rogers Mulindwa told supersport.com that two stadiums were near ready and that they were looking to working on three artificial turfs before the championship starts.
The Governor of North Darfur Asuman Mohammed Yusuf Kibir and his counterpart Ahamed Haroun from South Kordonfan State are interested in co-hosting the event.
