Stars too bright for The Flames

Kenya edged out Malawi 1-0 to reach the last four of the ongoing Cecafa Tusker Cup in Kampala on Tuesday.

Substitute Mike Barasa scored the winning goal to propel Kenya to the semifinals for the first time in four years.

Stars will now face Zanzibar on Thursday as they seek to restore their supremacy in the region.

Kenya started well with with Bernard Mangoli’s shot being punched away by keeper Swini with nine minutes gone.

Rama Salim then later tried his chance in the 21st minute but his shot was deflected by the defender.

With ten minutes into the break, Miciam Mhone fired a low shot that did not trouble keeper Duncan Ochieng before the injured Mangoli paved way for Barasa.

As the pressure escalated, David Owino was booked for a foul on Ndaziona Chatsalira with three minutes into the second half.

But it was a moment of brilliance from Abdalla Juma 40 yards out that set up Barasa who headed the ball home to give Kenya the lead in the 58th minute.
