Ronaldo loses 17 kilos in three months
Former Brazilian star striker Ronaldo, nicknamed "The Fat Guy" as well as "The Phenomenon," lost close to 17 kilos over three months as part of a reality TV show, based on a strict diet and a tough physical training programme.
Viewers got to see the results of the former football player's efforts in the programme Fantastico on Sunday night.
The all-time World Cup top scorer Ronaldo beat the goal that physical trainer Marcio Atalla had set for him and went from 118.4 to 101.5 kilos. Moreover, the percentage of fat in Ronaldo's body went from 25.5 per cent to 15 per cent.
The former football superstar, however, was not completely satisfied and said he would keep exercising and controlling his diet to get his weight below 100 kilogrammes.
"I will keep going. I love my body like this so much that I want to go below that (100-kilo) mark and never go over it again," the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid star said.
Hours before the show aired, colleagues had teased the Fifa Player of the Years 1996, 1997 and 2002 at a footvolley match in an elegant Rio de Janeiro beach.
"You're thin, muscular and handsome," Romario joked, and Rivaldo told Ronaldo "What a change!"
The show on Brazilian TV network Globo reportedly got Ronaldo almost 3 million dollars, although TV Globo has denied that.
