FA receive Alex Ferguson’s response

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has given the Football Association his observations following his controversial post-match comments at Tottenham.

Ferguson was furious with linesman Simon Beck following the 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane on Sunday when United conceded a stoppage-time equaliser after Wayne Rooney's penalty claim was rejected by referee Chris Foy.

The Scot claimed Beck should have stepped in to tell Foy the challenge on Rooney was worthy of a penalty and he went on to reveal his discontent with the linesman dating back to April 2010 when he failed to spot Didier Drogba was in an offside position as he scored a crucial goal for Chelsea at Old Trafford.

"He had a really poor game," Ferguson said. "There was no way the linesman was going to give that, he gave them everything.

"It was a clear decision. And he was 10 yards away, maybe 12 yards away from the incident and he doesn't give it. And yet he gave everything else.

"I am disappointed with him - we have not had a good record with him.

"With Chelsea a couple of years back, he gave onside to Didier Drogba and he was three yards offside. You remember these things because it is in important games and that was an important game."

The FA asked Ferguson to submit his observations on the row by 1800GMT on Thursday and he has now done that.

Now the FA has until Tuesday evening to decide whether to formally charge Ferguson.
