Tottenham sign Fryers from Liege

Tottenham signed former Manchester United defender Zeki Fryers from Belgian club Standard Liege on Thursday.

England youth full-back Fryers quit United to join Liege just six months ago, but he has been lured back to England by Tottenham's offer.

The 20-year-old will initially link up with Tottenham's development squad as he looks to win a place in boss Andre Villas-Boas's first-team plans.

"We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Standard Liege for the signing of Zeki Fryers," a statement on Spurs' official website read.

"The young defender, capped by England at Under-16, 17 and 19 level, began his career at Manchester United before joining Standard Liege last summer."
