Rose relishing Liverpool clash

Sunderland defender Danny Rose said there were not many better games to return for than a trip to Liverpool.

The on-loan defender missed the defeat to parent club Tottenham Hotspur but is eligible again as Sunderland kick off 2013 at Anfield on Wednesday night live on SS HD4 and SS7 from 9:30pm (CAT, GMT +2).

"All the players are looking forward to it because we've had some great results recently,” said Rose in an interview with the club’s official website.

"We've got a bit of confidence going into the game. Hopefully I can get back my place in the team.

"Aston Villa won at Anfield recently and we must look at how they caused Liverpool problems and try to do the same.

"It's up to us to get our best players on the ball and hopefully cause them problems.”

However, Danny Rose says the Black Cats will have to have their wits about them against a talented Liverpool outfit.

“There's quality all the way through their squad,” he added.

"Luis Suarez is on fire while Raheem Sterling has had a great start to the season. They have some great players and play great football.

"My first game for Sunderland was against Liverpool and I remember them passing the ball really well.

"I'm looking forward to going up against Sterling again too because he was a handful when I played against him earlier in the season."
