City make fourth signing on deadline day
Manchester City made their fourth signing on transfer deadline day as the Premier League champions landed Serbia defender Matija Nastasic from Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee.
As part of the deal for the 19-year-old Nastasic, City allowed Montenegro defender Stefan Savic to join Fiorentina after a disappointing spell at Eastlands since his move from Partizan Belgrade last year.
As well as Nastasic, City manager Roberto Mancini has signed Brazil right-back Maicon, Swansea winger Scott Sinclair and former Arsenal goalkeeper Richard Wright, with Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia reportedly close to becoming the club's fifth signing before the transfer window shuts at 2200GMT.
Nastasic will compete with City captain Vincent Kompany, England international Joleon Lescott and Ivory Coast star Kolo Toure for a place in Mancini's starting line-up.
When speaking about his interest in the player, Mancini said: "Nastasic will be one of the top players for a long time."
