Mphela dropped for quarterfinal

South Africa coach Gordon Igesund dropped Katlego Mphela for the Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal match against Mali on Saturday.

This was one of two changes made by the South Africa boss, who replaced the Mamelodi Sundowns striker with Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

The other change, which was enforced due to suspension, saw Siboniso Gaxa come in for Anele Ngcongca at right back.

Lehlohonolo Majorowas declared fit again and took his place among the substitutes.

Teams:

South Africa: Itumeleng Khune, Siboniso Gaxa, Bongani Khumalo (captain), Siyabonga Sangweni, Tsepo Masilela, Dean Furman, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, May Mahlangu, Thuso Phala, Bernard Parker, Tokelo Rantie.

Mali: Soumbeila Diakite, Molla Wague, Fousseni Diawara, Adama Coulibaly, Adama Tamboura, Mohamed Sissoko, Samba Diakite, Seydou Keita (captain), Samba Sow, Modibo Maiga, Mamadou Samassa
