Claasen finally returns to training
Daylon Claasen has returned to group training at the Belgian club Lierse but the Bafana Bafana midfielder is far too late for any late African Nations Cup call-up.
He is in line for game time on Thursday when his struggling side play away against league leaders Anderlecht but still awaiting to hear if he will be selected for the game-day squad
Claasen has not played since May, sidelined by a serious knee injury that left him out of Bafana Bafana’s World Cup games in June and subsequent six international since Gordon Igesund took over.
He has missed the entire first half of the season where Lierse have struggled and are now down second from bottom in the standings.
The knee injury also stymied trials at Queen’s Park Rangers before the start of the English premier league season last July.
The London-based club had resumed interest in the Bafana Bafana midfielder after first approaching him during the last January transfer window.
