Bafana to play three matches before Afcon

Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund said the national side will play three matches before the start of the African Cup of Nations on January 19.

The first match would be against Malawi in Durban on December 22. The team would then play Norway in Cape Town on January 8, after which Igesund would name his final squad for the tournament.

The final game, against Algeria, would take place on January 12 at Orlando Stadium.

Igesund said cutting down his squad for the event would be his main task.

“The league has been really exciting which means now my job is becoming very tough. The squad I have of 35 has to be cut down,” Igesund said on Tuesday.

“After the game against Malawi, our preparations will really begin.”
