Rantie suffers same fate as Ndlovu
Bafana Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie dislocated his shoulder playing for Swedish top-flight side Malmo on Monday and is waiting to hear if there has been any damage to the joint.
It is the same injury suffered by compatriot Dino Ndlovu on national team duty with Bafana Bafana in Brazil earlier this month.
Rantie was injured after being felled by Åtvidaberg left-back Jesper Arvidsson on 72 minutes, leading the referee to point to the spot. Ricardinho stepped up and converted the penalty to give Malmo a 1-0 win and keep alive their hopes of winning the title this year.
Malmo are one of three sides on 42 points after 22 games of the season, just two behind leaders Elfsborg with eight matches remaining. But how much of that run-in Rantie will miss remains to be seen.
"It does not feel good at all," Rantie said after the game. “I was off balance when he [Arvidsson] stuck out his leg and when I fell I got all my weight on the shoulder. I'm really concerned.”
