No January move for Claasen

Bafana Bafana midfielder Daylon Claasen will stay at Belgian side Lierse for the remainder of this season, quashing suggestions he might move in the January transfer window.

Claasen has been a huge hit since joining Lierse from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam ahead of the 2010/11 Jupiler League season and has been tipped for either a move to a bigger club in Belgium, or a bigger European league.

There had been suggestions that this might happen in the January transfer window, but the player’s business manager Rob Moore has told SuperSport.com that this will not be the case.

“He will definitely not be moving in this window, he will stay with Lierse until the end of the season,” Moore says. “After that we will see what happens.”

Claasen is a key creative figure in midfield for Lierse and has played in every match where he has been available this season, scoring three goals in the process.

He has also featured regularly for Bafana Bafana over the past six months and was part of the team that played to a 0-0 draw with Equatorial Guinea last Friday.
