Pizzi to take over at Valencia

Juan Antonio Pizzi is poised to become the new coach of troubled Valencia, according to Spanish and Argentine media reports Friday.

Pizzi, 45, has terminated his contract with Argentine champions San Lorenzo and has reportedly agreed to an 18-month contract with Valencia lasting until June 2015.

The former Tenerife and Barcelona striker will not arrive in Spain in time for Sunday's clash between Valencia and Real Madrid. Youth team coach Nico Estevez will be on the Valencia bench against Real.

Valencia sacked Serbian coach Miroslav Djukic Monday, with the team languising in ninth place in La Liga.
