Omollo to coach relegated Rangers
Former Oserian boss Sammy Omollo has been named the coach of recently relegated outfit Rangers FC.
According to Rangers chairman Yobesh Ongeri, Omollo’s contract will have him in the team for at least two years, as the club seeks a swift return to the Kenyan Premier League.
“After going through a number of applications, we settled at Omollo and we believe that he will guide the team back to the premier league. His experience and record speaks for itself and that is why he managed to beat the over 10 candidates that had applied for the post,” said Ongeri.
Prior to his move to Oserian, Omollo served as the head coach to current Kenyan champions Tusker FC. He was released from the side in August 2012 after a weak run of results.
Shortly after the just concluded campaign, Pamzo had been linked with a move to Nakuru’s Ulinzi Stars, but the team later came out to indicate that there were no plans to hire him.
Meanwhile, Rangers recently managed to secure the support of former sponsors Postal Corporation of Kenya. The team battled with financial challenges throughout the 2012 season, and are hoping this will not be an issue next year.
