Chiefs look to maintain league form



Maritzburg United and Kaizer Chiefs will get the Absa Premiership back underway after a three-week break when they meet at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday, kick-off at 8pm CAT (SA,GMT+2). Live on SS4, SSHD4 and supersport.com

Maritzburg broke a three-game winless streak in their last league outing, defeating top flight rookies Chippa United 1-0 away from home.

The KwaZulu-Natal side will be looking for an improvement on their home form, which has seen pick up just four points from three matches so far.

The Team of Choice are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership log with 12 points from seven matches.

Chiefs drew 0-0 at home to Bloemfontein Celtic in their last league outing to retain their unbeaten status.

The Soweto giants have collected two wins and two draws from their four matches on the road so far this season.

The Amakhosi are placed first on the Absa Premiership log with 17 points from seven matches.

In head-to-head stats, Maritzburg and Chiefs have met in 12 league matches since 2005/06.

The Amakhosi have five wins to the four of the KwaZulu-Natal team, while just three matches have been drawn.

Maritzburg’s home record against Chiefs sees the teams very evenly matched: two wins apiece and two draws from six matches.

Last season the Team of Choice took four points off the Soweto giants, drawing 0-0 at home and winning 1-0 away.
