CAF replaces Esperance-Mazembe ref
CAF has named a new referee to take charge of the return leg of the Champions League semifinal between last year’s winners Esperance Tunis and TP Mazembe following a complaint filed by the Congolese club against the original official Bakary Gassama from the Gambia.
Senegal’s Badara Diatta will now preside over the encounter set for Saturday October 20 in Tunis.
The Blood and Gold are highly favoured to carry off the clash after they held the Corbeaux to a goalless draw a fortnight ago in Lubumbashi.
Local editorialists in Tunisia have criticised the new choice of referee in reference to Mazembe’s coach Lamine N’Diaye, who is also a Senegalese.
