Chiefs after Rusike signature
Kaizer Chiefs are back on the transfer market, this time in search of an attacking midfielder. They have set their sights on Zimbabwean national under-23 and Jomo Cosmos star Matthew Rusike, the club has confirmed.
Rusike was the star of the Cosmos team that battled through the 2011/12 season but could not save his team from relegation. His talent, however, did not go unnoticed with several Premiership teams. Chiefs, who have looked rather blunt in front of goal, are now going all out to secure the player.
According to a report on the club’s official website, the player is currently with Chiefs at Naturena while negotiations with Cosmos are on-going. However, it appears there is still a dispute between the player and Cosmos, something which will delay the transfer.
Rusike, who only broke into Cosmos’ first team squad seven games into the season, joined Ezenkosi in January last year from Zimbabwe’s Monomotapa FC after a short stint with Pretoria University.
He played his first official game for Cosmos last season away to Ajax Cape Town, where he formed a lethal attacking partnership with Siyabonga Nontshinga. Rusike made 12 league appearances for Cosmos last season and scored only three goals.
