Abidal to kick off Barca-PSG friendly
Barcelona and France full-back Eric Abidal, currently recovering from liver transplant surgery in April, will take part in the ceremonial kick-off of the Catalan club's glamour friendly against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.
"He will kick off the match," the club's press office told AFP. "He has begun light physical work again.
"It is still too early to say how long it will be before he is back playing."
Earlier, Abidal's Barcelona teammate Xavi Hernandez, speaking in a pre-match press conference, said: "It is fantastic that he is with us, that he has recovered.
"It is a moment of great joy for him and it is great news for all of us that he has almost fully recovered, it shows that the operation was a success."
The 32-year-old French international defender underwent the operation on April 10 just over a year after having a tumour removed from his liver in March 2011.
He was given the green light to leave hospital in Barcelona in May.
